Air Duct Cleaning |
Q:
How long does a duct cleaning job
take?
A: Normally 3-4 hours. We schedule all jobs at 8:30am and 12:00
noon to 4:00pm Monday-Saturday.
|
Q:
Why do people need to clean thier air
ducts?
A: Building debris such as sheetrock dust, saw
dust and insulation are found in newer homes while
hair, skin flakes, mold, mildew and bacteria
are found in older systems.

Air Purifiers: CAP600 |
Q:
How do I know when I need to change
CAP filters and lamps?
A: To keep the system running at peak efficiency, the furnace blower
and the CAP unit must be run in the continuous mode. Prefilters
should be chaged when the amber "change filter" lamp illuminates; UV
and UV Plus lamps should be changed yearly; HEPA filters about every
two to three years.
|
Q:
Won't portable HEPA units provide the
same air cleaning benefits?
A: No. Studies have shown that air cleaners attached to the main
ventilation system are generally much more effective tahn
free-standing air cleaners. Portable units can also be noisy and
take up space, and purchasing units for every room would be costly.
|
Q:
Are "HEPA type" filters the same as
true HEPA filters?
A: No. By definition, "true HEPA" filters can allow no more than 3
out of 10,000 0.3-micron particles to pass through. "HEPA type"
filters may allow leakage of as many as 4,500 of 10,000 0.3-micron
particles.
|
Q:
Why do the CAP600 and CAP1200 units
have blowers?
A: The more efficient a filter is, the higher its resistance to
airflow and the greater the loss of HVAC efficiency and
performance. The powerful blower ensures that peak HVAC system
performance is maintained.
|
Q:
I've heard and seen advertisements for
allergy filters for under $100. Why would I buy a CAP HEPA system?
A: You get "what you pay for." These ads are generally for 1" thick
"passive" filters with an electrostatic charged media. When clean,
this type of filter typically catches less than 20% of 0.3-micron
particles. When dirty, almost all particles can pass right
through. HEPA filtes start at 99.97% and actually get more
efficient as filters get dirty.
|
Q:
Are the benefits of HEPA filtration
recognized by the scientific and healthcare communities?
A:
Numerous CAP units have been purchased as a direct result of
physician recommendations. According to the 1997 ALA publication,
"Blueprint for Health," 'Because of its high efficiency at filtering
out tiny particulates, HEPA filtration is highly recommended for
those individuals who suffer from allergies, asthma, or other
respiratory problems.'

| Q:
How long do the Clean Air allergy
filters last?
A:
The filters should be replaced every 3-4 months. >>Best way to
tell: There is a yellow side and a white side. Dirt will almost
immediately show on the white side but it does not need to be
changed until a haze of dirt is visible on the yellow side. Filters
contine to work at optimal effeciency until this point.
